The tax deal that's seen Google in the news daily won't be bad press for them. We've seen mass boycotting to Starbucks and Amazon (although I suspect is hasn't made a dent) but I can't see millenialls saying "Right, that's it! I'm moving to Bing" anytime soon. Bing is not, our thing. This just proves what a monopoly Google have, and very few people seem to mind. But big news like this plants seeds in people's minds, and Google will have to tread carefully in the next few years to make sure people don't start turning their backs on their favourite robot friend; or there could be a chance for David (not Gilroy) to step up and fight Goliath.
Google agreed to pay £130m of tax dating back to 2005 to HMRC, which said it was the "full tax due in law".
