As an avid cyclist, I hate it when I am riding into work and I see a cyclist just jump a red light. I dont think this should be allowed as it won't stop at turning left. The rules should be for the benefit of the publics safety. What if they knock someone over on a crossing, when turning left? Who is liable then? Don't jump the red, stop instead!
It may be a long standing joke (or sense of frustration) amongst motorists that cyclists think they have specialist privileges when it comes to observance of the Highway Code, but the joke may be on motorists if a recently published report has its way.
