For too long the legal profession has steered well clear of social media in a decision no doubt borne from risk aversion. With law firms entering the sphere, Judges can't be too far behind - and are well-placed to educate, inform and inspire - especially when many feel the nuances of the law are inaccessible to them.
The argument is not that judges must wade in on controversial topics – indeed they should steer clear of anything that brings into question their impartiality – but can inspire young people into entering the law, let the public experience the legal system and show they have a human side.
